Winter Squad Competition 2022

3 min read

Last weekend, we held the Gymfinity Kids Winter Squad Competition 2022, and it was an incredible event that demonstrated the amazing progress of the gymnasts. We have gathered a recap of the weekend to share with you, so read on to find out more about the event and some of the highlights!

The progression of our Squad Competitions:

It’s the first year where we’ve been able to finally bring everyone all together for internal Squad competitions. The first was held in the Chatham club (March 2022), and we saw 127 Squad gymnasts compete.

Fast forward to our third and last competition of the year on 12th and 13th November, and we had 200 Squad gymnasts compete. To have such a sharp increase in qualifying gymnasts shows how quickly they are learning and improving with the help of our talented coaches. The only way is up!

We had all 8 clubs come together at the Milton Keynes club and not only was the volume of the Squads high, but the quality of skills and execution was impressive. We are so proud of everyone’s hard work and team spirit. From the gymnasts themselves to the Gymfinity coaches, the success of the event is a testament to the huge dedication of everyone. And of course, a big thank you to the parents who supported the competition and all the hours of training that it took to get there!

The Trophy Winners:

As in all previous Gymfinity competitions, we calculated the top 3 execution scores from the gymnasts on each piece. Execution is how neatly and correctly skills are performed; not necessarily how difficult the skills are. Our scoring method is fair and consistent across all the clubs.

Every competition, we award the Gymfinity Cup, which goes to the club with the highest execution scores of the competition. Our first winners in March 2022 were Reading and in August 2022, we saw Farnborough take the Cup home.

A massive congratulations to the winner of the Gymfinity Cup at the Winter Squad Competition 2022: Cambridge

And for the first time ever, we awarded the prestigious Gymfinity Kids Trophy – our biggest award yet! All clubs’ execution scores from across the whole year were collated, and the trophy gets residency at the club that has consistently attained high execution scores in every competition.

The winner of the Gymfinity Kids Trophy at the Winter Squad Competition 2022: Maidstone

A huge congratulations to Maidstone! Although they haven’t won a Cup throughout the year, their execution scores have been so consistently high, the points mounted up to make them the overall winners of 2022. They get to take their trophy home and proudly show it off to everyone in Maidstone.

Final words…

If you wish to see some of the highlights, do head over to our Instagram where you can see stories from throughout the weekend pinned on our profile underWINTER SQUAD’.

We have also created a reel featuring some wonderful moments captured during the competition, including the team spirit and unique community of the gymnasts.

Moments like these remind us that the Squad teams aren’t just gymnasts – they’re a family creating brilliant bonds and lasting memories… all while developing exceptional skills on the way.

Until next year!
